The 2018 Boobs and Blood International Film Festival will be held in Los Angeles, from October 5th to October 7th. If you’re not familiar with the festival, let’s just say that the LA Weekly once said about it that “it’s like Cannes, but with more boobs”…
Pink Eiga Inc. is a proud sponsor of the Boobs and Blood Film Festival and all other Boobs and Blood events. In years past, the festival has shown a good amount of our Pink Films, and this year is no exception. A full lineup of the films we’re going to show, the other screenings and the events and panels will be announced in the coming months. It’s safe to say that it’s going to be a great festival this year!
Attention film makers! The festival is still accepting submissions, so if you want your film to play in this festival alongside our films, show your amazing work to the world and (maybe) win an award, be sure to submit it for consideration. A link to the submission page is HERE
Boobs and Blood is an old school exploitation film festival, an unapologetic celebration of the best in world psychotronic cinema, art and culture. This year will premiere the festival’s new magazine, keeping all its fans up to date on festival news, film features, and other news from the underground. Issue 1 includes a Pink Eiga photo spread, on-set interviews with a leading Pink film director, a closer look into the world of 1970s erotic vampire cinema, female horror hosts, bawdy kaiju wrestling, candid photos from Peter Cushing’s most outrageous film and much more. The magazine will available in hard and digital copies at the Boobs and Blood website.
Pink Eiga has fortunately had a relationship with Boobs and Blood for years, sponsoring many events. Mr. Pink, Yutaka Ikejima, Yumi Yoshiyuki and Reiko Yamaguchi all attended the festival in 2010 and accepted awards for their accomplishments.
Every year The European Film Market (EFM) welcomes over 9,000 producers, buyers, sales agents, distributors, exhibitors and financiers to the first major film market of the year. This year, Pink Eiga, Inc. is happy to announce that five of its staple films will be traveling to Berlin under the umbrella of Darkside Releasing, allowing people all over the world exposure to this niche film genre. A Lonely Cow Weeps at Dawn, Prison Girl, S&M Hunter, The Succulent Succubus and Twilight Dinner are heading to the market, representing the wide variety that Pink Eiga has to offer.
Per their website: DARKSIDE RELEASING is a new boutique-style film sales company featuring international genre films.
Everyone at Darkside Releasing loves genre films and we’re passionate about bringing wild, edgy, outrageous, funny, and innovative genre films from exciting, maverick filmmakers to the international film markets!
“We are filmmakers ourselves, so Darkside Releasing is creating a model that is highly focused towards synchronizing the needs of indie genre filmmakers with the costs and work related to international sales.” ~Vince (director of Darkside Releasing).
People from all over the world will be attending the Berlin International Film Festival next month, and so will a few films of the “pink” genre. The three films, all produced by Kokuei, are Abnormal Family (1984) by Masayuki Suo, Gushing Prayer (1971) by Masao Adachi, and Inflatable Sex Doll of the Wastelands (1967) by Atsushi Yamatoya. “Some will know that Yamatoya penned the script for this concurrently with his anonymous contribution to Seijun Suzuki’s BRANDED TO KILL, and the two films make, shall we say, fascinating companion pieces,” says Pink film historian Jasper Sharp, who was integral to getting these films into the festival.
The films are a part of The Forum’s Special Screenings series, devoted to showing more idiosyncratic and alternative film genres, which is a perfect way to describe Pink Eiga. “Since its foundation in 1971, the Forum has always shone a spotlight on historical films too, shaking the foundations of a cinematic canon whose main interest lies in feature films from Western Europe and North America. This year’s programme once again stands in opposition to such views and is dedicated to cinema from Africa, documentary and experimental film, “anti-cinema” films and salacious b-movies and “dirty” films.”
The festival kicks off February 15th and runs through the 25th.
