Hey Guys,

We’re only now getting around to posting this, but I’m excited to inform you all that there was an excellent article in the New York Times called “From ‘Pink Films’ to Oscar Gold” about the how Pink Eiga is a kind of film school/proving grounds for many young Japanese directors who later become some of the biggest directors in Japan. This is something that we’ve known from the beginning and was a major reason why we started the Pink Eiga DVD label.

What’s also cool about this article is the fact that it articulately states something that we — and all Pink Eiga fans — know to be true: you go to Pink Eiga for the boobies and leave having seen a good piece of filmmaking (that is sometimes  profound like A LONELY COW WEEPS AT DAWN). It’s like a art sneak attack!

Thanks to Mike Hale for this good piece of film writing.
