
Yukijiro Hotaru is a well-known supporting actor in Japanese films and a veteran Pink Eiga actor. He was born on August 27th, 1951 in Saitama. His career began with the “Groper Train” series directed by Akira Fukamachi and Yojiro Takita (81th Oscar foreign language winner, a direcotr of Departures, 2009). Throughout the 1980s, he performed in many Pink Eigas, formed a comedy unit with Lupin Suzuki and thrived on TV shows. He is good at playing comical characters and polished up his performance skills when he had the comedy unit. However, he can also play serious roles very well.
Later, he started to play in mainstream movies and TV dramas while continuing to work in Pink Eigas. Many great directors cast him, such as Yojiro Takita, Shusuke Kaneko, Keita Amamiya, Kiyoshi Kurosawa and so on. His representative role is as lieutenant Osako in the Japanese monster movies, “The Gamera” series.
Shortly after, he played in the great Japanese director, Kon Ichikawa’s posthumous film “The Inugamis” (2006). Recently, he has continued to act in Pink Eigas including Mototsugu Watanabe’s “Sexy Battle Girls” and “Sexy S.W.A.T. Team”. In addition, he played a molesting professor in the acclaimed Pink Eiga, “The Glamorous Life of Sachiko Hanai.” In every film he has been a part of, he gives a funny and impressive performance.
