Watanabe’s largest influence is Japanese Idol, especially, Candies (a famous idol group in the 70’s). He always wanted to direct Idol films, which is prevalent in his style, which portrays actresses very uniquely. However, he also includes bizarre ideas in his films, and can work with various types of genres including, science fiction, horror, and action, among others. In his representative work, “Sexy Battle Girls,” he created a very unique heroine, who defeats enemies with a crazy kendama that has a dildo catcher. His films contain many bizarre scenarios, such as: a laser gun that makes people horny and a spaceship that uses semen as fuel. Watanabe enjoys the support of many fans, and is regarded as the No.1 cult filmmaker of Pink Eiga.
