Horyu Nakamura

Horyu Nakamura was a highly experienced actor with an acting career that lasted about 40 years. He passed away July 7th, 2008, at the age of 67. He was born in Tokyo, Japan, on December 13th, 1940, and graduated from Waseda University. After graduation he joined the theater company “Jiyu Gekijou and Kuro Tento” from 1968 to 1971. In 1986, he joined another theater company, “Tokyo Ichikumi,” and started seriously working on films in the 1990s. He worked in many genres and formats including theatrical films, V cinema (Straight to DVD or video) and Pink Eiga.
He was known as a versatile actor who could play roles ranging from homeless to novelists with his individuality. He worked with internationally known filmmakers such as Kiyoshi Kurosawa and Juzo Itami as a supporting actor. In Pink Eiga, he played a leading role in “A Lonely Cow Weeps at Dawn,” and had a huge impact on Pink Eiga fans. Fellow actors and actresses respected him for his passion for acting and his genuine personality. His wife has said that he talked about acting up until his death.
